Happy late Thanksgiving, y’all! This Thursday, we all sat down to stuff ourselves full of food, watch football, spend time with family, and, hopefully, reflect on the things that we’re grateful for.
I have a lot to be thankful for, but here are my top ten, in no particular order:
I’m Finally Done With College
No more classes. No more working three part-time jobs. No more tests. And best of all, no more group projects.
I’ve Got a Job I Like
Yes, some days are frustrating and I’ve daydreamed about quitting once or twice. But at the end of the day, I really do like my job. I’m doing stuff I enjoy with a team that I know supports me in a workplace that’s healthy for me.
I Have a New Aunt and Cousins
Several weeks ago, through the magic of DNA-testing kits, we found out that we have an aunt and cousins we’ve never met. My mom knew that her mom had had a daughter and put her up for adoption, but we had never been in contact.
Now, we’ve learned that we have an aunt and three cousins who we actually have a lot in common with and get along great. It’s been a crazy journey so far, but totally worth it.
I’m Financially Stable
Living at home sucks, but it also means that instead of paying rent every month, I get to put that same amount of money into my savings account. And even with my student loans now being due (something I am NOT thankful for!), I’m still financially stable enough that I can have little shopping sprees and be able to pay off my credit card each month.
My sister and I are really close. She always supports me, even when I’m doing something that she doesn’t think is smart. She’ll tell me I’m wrong, but she’ll support me and she’ll be there if I fail.
My cat and dogs are the sweetest creatures alive. They’re always there for me and they can make even the worst day end on a great note.
I’m Able to Travel
Piggybacking off “I’m financially stable,” I’m able to travel fairly frequently. I went to Chicago in September, I’m going to Vegas in a few weeks, and I’ve already started pricing out a potential spring trip.
I’ve Got a Supportive Boss
This is really important, y’all. If you have a boss who is supportive of you taking on new projects and developing professionally, it makes such a difference in how you feel at work.
I Have Big Dreams
I’m grateful that I have big dreams because it means that I’ve had people in my life who have encouraged me to work hard and go after what I want. The older I get, the more I realize how rare that is.
I’m Happy With Myself
I’m happy with who I am and where I am in life. Those are words that I never thought I would say, but here I am. And I’m so incredibly grateful for that.
These are ten things that I’m grateful for this year. What are you thankful for?
