Hello, World!

Hey, y’all!

Since this is my first post, I thought I’d take some time to share my goals, both personal and professional.

I’m a 21 year old marketing student at the University of Louisville, on track to graduate in May. I’ve got a background in social media marketing and now, I’m an intern at a public relations firm here in Louisville.

After graduation, my plans are a little vague. I’ll definitely be moving apartments, since my lease ends in July, but I don’t know yet if I’ll stay in Louisville. I studied abroad in Paris, France in the fall of my junior year and it got me addicted to travel. I am eligible for European citizenship through my mom, so it’s feasible for me to live and work in Europe. I’ve also considered:

  • Chicago, since I love the city and it’s still fairly close to home
  • Washington, D.C., since it has a great international airport (in terms of flight deals, at least) and I can easily get to Boston and New York City, two places I’d love to visit
  • and Las Vegas, since my sister’s old boss works out there and I could see myself living there for a couple years, exploring the West Coast and networking while I figure out what I want to do with my life

Professionally, my “dream” career path keeps changing. I love what I’m doing so far at my internship and I thrive in the fast-paced world of an agency. I also like social media marketing, especially the content creation and analytic parts of the job. At the same time, I’m looking into sports marketing, since I’m a big football and hockey fan and would love the chance to work with some of my favorite teams.

Right now, I’m focusing on doing informational interviews with people in various industries to learn more about what they do and try to figure out if that’s what I want to do for at least a few years.

My first job may not be in the industry where I end up, but it’s still an important starting point. I want to make sure that what I want to do and where I’m doing it align with the type of person that I aspire to be.

Wish me luck! If you have any advice, please share it in the comments below!
